Feature Benchmarking

Before tearing down the vehicle, we map all its features on product level. During teardown, we map subsystem level features. This is later linked with corresponding BOM items used for providing the feature to get feature based cost benchmarkin.

After disassembling the vehicle, it's crucial to preserve the layout, packaging, and subsystem interactions. This is achieved by mapping and creating detailed diagrams that effectively illustrate the architecture. This method has proven to be superior for retaining architectural information when compared to 3D scan data.

Positioning

In most of the high value components, we map the suppliers for various cost analytics.

Precise Weight Measurement

We use a variety of weighing machines with required accuracy to map the weight of each part precisely. We maintain very high levels of accuracy in this activity.

Manufacturing Process

For different commodities, we map the manufacturing steps, required machines, labour and tools for conducting detailed zero based costing.

Raw Material Identification

We use a variety of tests to identify the composition and grade of the raw materials.

Photos and Videos

Besides detailed parameters, we also take all photographs from all views during benchmarking.

Following the measurement of all cost drivers for each part, we perform a thorough zero-based costing analysis using xcPEP.

Who owns the benchmark data?
Our customers who have commissioned the study own the benchmark data.
What kind of vehicles / machines do you normally teardown?
We regularly work on all automotive and off highway vehicles / machines and their subsystems. We also work on home appliances, white goods and other engineered products from time to time.
What happens to data after the project?
It gets added to your organization's xcPEP server and your private benchmark database is built.
Is the data locked in xcPEP?
No, you can export data in excel and image formats as and when required. xcPEP is far more convenient for data consumption and collaboration and hence most of our customers remain on xcPEP.
What happens to torn down parts after teardown?
We do a workshop at your premises and arrange the parts for display. Post the workshop, we leave however parts are retained back by you for future use and scrapping as required.
Can you do teardown at our premises?
In most cases, its much cheaper, faster and convenient to do the activity at ASI premises in Bangalore. Your team gets full exposure to the parts during the workshop. Your team members may visit our premises as and when required in the middle of the project.
Do you provide xcPEP for our internal benchmarking team?
Yes, we provide xcPEP software licenses using which your in-house team can conduct the activities. We also provide training and deployment support for onboarding.
