xcPEP SaaS
Device and Network Requirements
1. Purpose and Scope
This document outlines the minimum and recommended device and network requirements for optimal use of the xcPEP SaaS platform. Adhering to these specifications will ensure a smooth, efficient, and secure user experience.
2. General Principles
The xcPEP platform is designed to be accessible via web browsers, prioritizing compatibility and performance across a range of modern devices and network conditions.
3. Device Requirements
For an optimal experience with xcPEP, the following device specifications are recommended:
- Operating System:
- Windows: Windows 10 (64-bit) or newer
- macOS: macOS 11 (Big Sur) or newer
- Linux: Modern distributions (e.g., Ubuntu 20.04+, Fedora 34+) with up-to-date browsers
- Processor: Dual-core processor (Intel Core i3 / AMD Ryzen 3 equivalent or better)
- RAM: 8 GB RAM or more
- Storage: 5 GB free disk space (for browser cache and temporary files)
- Display:
- Recommended: 13-inch screen size or larger with a resolution of 1920x1080 (Full HD) or higher.
- Minimum: 10-inch screen size with a resolution of 1280x720. While 10-inch screens may experience some minor layout misalignments, core functionality should remain accessible.
- Input Devices: Standard keyboard and mouse/trackpad.
- Optional for Benchmarking Photos: For customers opting to use mobile devices or tablets to take pictures for benchmarking projects, access to camera functionality on these devices is required. This task can also be performed manually using laptops without camera access.
4. Browser Requirements
xcPEP supports the latest stable versions of leading web browsers to ensure compatibility and leverage modern web technologies. We recommend keeping your browser updated for the best security and performance.
- Google Chrome (latest stable version)
- Mozilla Firefox (latest stable version)
- Microsoft Edge (Chromium-based, latest stable version)
- Apple Safari (latest stable version, for macOS users)
Browser Settings:
- JavaScript must be enabled.
- Cookies must be enabled.
- Pop-up blockers should be configured to allow pop-ups from the xcPEP domain.
5. Network Requirements
A stable and sufficiently fast internet connection is crucial for a responsive xcPEP experience.
- Bandwidth:
- Recommended: 20 Mbps or higher download and upload speed per user for smooth usage and optimal performance, especially when handling larger datasets or complex interactions.
- Minimum: 10 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload speed per user. Performance may be impacted at lower speeds, leading to longer load times and potential delays in responsiveness.
- Latency: Low latency (ping) to Advanced Structures India Private Limited's AWS hosting region is recommended for optimal responsiveness. Latency below 100ms is generally preferred.
- Connectivity: A stable, reliable internet connection (e.g., wired Ethernet, strong Wi-Fi signal) is essential. Intermittent connectivity can disrupt the user experience.
6. Security Considerations
Users are responsible for maintaining the security of their local device and network:
- Antivirus/Anti-malware: Keep antivirus and anti-malware software up-to-date.
- Firewall: Ensure personal firewall is enabled and configured correctly.
- Operating System Updates: Apply operating system and browser security updates promptly.
- Public Wi-Fi: Exercise caution when using public Wi-Fi networks due to inherent security risks.
7. Integrations with Other Systems (Conditional)
By default, xcPEP functions as a standalone SaaS application and does not require connectivity with external systems (e.g., no VPN requirements).
However, upon customer demand, xcPEP can be integrated with customer's other SaaS solutions and on-premise software (e.g., ERP, PLM systems). When such integrations are in scope, additional specific device and network requirements may apply, including:
- VPN Connectivity: For on-premise integrations, a secure VPN connection (e.g., IPsec VPN) between the customer's network and Advanced Structures India Private Limited's AWS environment may be required. Specific VPN client software might be necessary.
- Firewall Rules: Specific inbound and outbound firewall rules will need to be configured on the customer's network to allow communication with xcPEP integration endpoints.
- API Access: Network access to customer's on-premise or other SaaS APIs will be required, potentially including specific port openings.
- Dedicated Bandwidth: For high-volume data transfers or frequent integrations, dedicated bandwidth may be recommended to ensure performance.
These specific requirements will be detailed in the respective integration documentation or during the integration planning phase.
